DescriptionI wish there was a deep, intellectual, underlying psychological objective to divulge about Oregon Children’s Theatre’s 2009-2010 season. But really it is all about the FUN! Theater is fun and joyous. When you come to OCT we want you to enjoy yourselves, and for your family to share a treasured moment together. From the moment you walk into the lobby we want you to feel like it is your theater. We want the children around you to be brimming with excitement. When you leave we want you filled with laughter and joy. Great books are the featured in the 2009-2010 season—adaptations that bring stories to life. Not books you gotta read, but books that are fun to read—by yourself, with your family, or in the classroom. Reading a book and seeing it come to life on stage is fun, exciting, and immediate. We will still have thoughtful discussion guides for families, resource guides for schools, and after-play discussions, but that is FUN. Talking about and learning from a live performance is a natural byproduct of that performance. Young people find joy in being asked real questions, and to have their responses heard by an adult or peer who believes their opinion matters. When you have fun first, the learning naturally follows. OCT’s Acting Academy has a skill-based curriculum that teaches LIFE SKILLS to every child we serve, but really we are hoping your child experiences the joy of pretending out loud and has fun while doing it. The byproduct of fun helps children build self confidence, overcome shyness, and develop critical thinking skills…and of course have fun! This season promises to be our best ever. Come be part of the fun. The learning, growing, discussions, and development will follow. Details
