Monarch opened in September 1998 with an enrollment of 23 students. The school now has 107 students. The original campus was located at 1231 Wirt Road on the grounds of the Houston Mennonite Church. Three years after opening, we were bursting at the seams with enrollment, but were not able to expand on the original property. We solved the dilemma by opening a second campus, the Challenger campus, just 5 blocks south of the original campus. We have recently moved into our new home on 11 acres of land at 2815 Rosefield.
The Monarch School Summer program is designed to offer students the same individualized intervention that is offered in the regular term. Courses and experiences are available for students in the areas of self-awareness and self-regulation, executive functions, relationship development, and academic competence and are tailored to their developmental level. Additionally, it serves as a tremendous outreach for students and families who are unable to attend during the school year. Families come from all over the world to allow their child to feel accepted, sometimes for the first time, in a fun educational setting.
