Welcome to the Cambridge Summer Music Festival’s website. The 2009 Festival - our 30th - ran between 17 July and 8 August. We marked various anniversaries this year with a particular focus on the music of Haydn, Mendelssohn, Handel and Purcell. Audiences enjoyed a wealth of musical riches including one of Haydn's 14 operas, several of his glorious quartets, Mendelssohn's wonderful octet, Fingal's Cave and cello sonata, as well as organ music and opera arias by Handel and Purcell.

We look forward to welcoming you back in 2010 to enjoy the Festival's eclectic mix of classical, baroque and contemporary - the unusual and the funny - all performed in the beautiful surroundings of some of Cambridge's most historic buildings.
