At the 5th Avenue Musical Theatre Summer Camp the emphasis is on professional training. Our mission is to offer students access to some of the best teachers and performers working in the world of musical theatre today. All classes, studio workshops and master classes are taught by working theatre artists with extensive professional credits on Broadway, at nationally recognized musical theatre companies, and at The 5th Avenue Theatre.
Past instructors have included Broadway performers Anne Allgood, Patti Cohenour, Allen Fitzpatrick, Stephen Reed, James Rocco and Carol Swarbrick. The 5th Avenue Artistic staff including Producing Artistic Director David Armstrong, Associate Producing Artistic Director Bill Berry, Musical Director Ian Eisendrath, Artistic Associate Albert Evans, and Seattle’s own David Bennett and Dannul and Tinka Dailey have also contributed their talents and knowledge of the craft to the students of the Camp.
We are thrilled to welcome many of our past instructors back to Summer Camp in 2009, as well as introduce students to many new and exciting teachers.
Since 1926, the magnificent 5th Avenue Theatre has captivated audiences with music, drama and laughter. In the early days, people eagerly lined up for first-class vaudeville shows, featuring top entertainers. The Theatre later transformed itself into a popular movie palace. The 5th fell on hard times in the late 70's, but fortunately, was saved from a wrecking ball by a visionary group of businesses and community leaders. Following a spectacular $2.6-million renovation, the theatre re-opened in 1980, more beautiful than ever.
