Description
In 1938, Dr. Mary Olney, a physician from UC San Francisco, took 19 children to camp to teach them how to be better managers of their condition. She was joined a few years later by Dr. Ellen Simpson. Since that summer, the Diabetic Youth Foundation has been providing support and education for those affected by diabetes. Our educational programs, guided by DYF’s Medical Director, Dr. Mary Simon, are a collaborative effort between physicians, diabetes educators, nurses, dietitians, and parents, who use the latest information regarding effective management of blood sugars to empower children and families to reduce and eliminate the complications associated with diabetes.
