DescriptionBelwood Lodge and Camp is dedicated to meeting the summer recreational needs of children, youth and adults who are mentally challenged. Our programs are designed to provide campers with exceptional experiences while ensuring their safety and a positive holiday experience. We provide care givers a chance to enjoy a holiday and well deserved rest without worrying about their loved ones. In 1946 the Kiwanis Club of Guelph started leasing the property from the Grand River Conservation Authorities to start a camping experience for under privileged children. Over the first few years it was realized that many children with disabilities had no or very few opportunities to attend a recreational camp. With the Kiwanis vision, Belwood Lodge & Camp was turned into a residential camp for mentally challenged children. Over the decades it has increased in both attendance, length of operations and now also includes opportunities for adults and seniors. While specific programs and services may have changed over the years, Belwood Lodge & Camps' dedication to understand challenges and provide an opportunity for friendships remains. Details
