I grew up in the Albany, NY area and began drumming when I was in the 3rd grade. During school I took every available opportunity to practice and perform. My experiences at Columbia High led me to join the Empire State Youth Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, eventually winning the title of Principal Percussionist for the Empire State Youth Orchestra.
I auditioned for and was accepted into the Eastman School of Music in 1997 where I studied classical percussion and music education. While at Eastman I met my band mates and formed SNMNMNM. In 2000 the band moved to Los Angeles to pursue our music full time. We made another cross country move to The Chapel Hill area in 2003. While here we were signed by Unschooled Records.
I began teaching private lessons in the Triangle in 2004. In 2006 I was hired to teach drums at The Village Music School in Cary. I regularly work with the public schools to provide master classes and lessons for the area's music students. I have worked with students from 3 years old to 60 years old, and have learned from and enjoyed teaching each one.
At the end of 2007, I left SNMNMNM to pursue other playing and teaching opportunities in the Triangle. Now as a working drummer, I have been recording and performing jazz, rock, big band, and composing classical percussion music.
In 2008, I joined A Rooster for the Masses, and we recently released the 'Broken Era' CD on our own Oak City Records. Currently, we are writing and recording a follow-up full length for release in September 2009.
I was married to my wife Julie in 2006. We are currently living happily ever after just outside of downtown Raleigh.
