DescriptionRowPittsburgh offers a variety of rowing programs designed to meet varying needs, from the beginner to elite competitor. Rowing requires the use of all muscle groups, serving as a perfect conditioner without shock to the joints. While the common belief is that rowing requires great upper body strength, what really matters is core strength. Power is transferred from the legs through the torso, to the arms that control the oars in the water and move the boat. RowPittsburgh is offering sculling camps for high school students, specializing in programs for both competitive and novice/recreational rowers. Practices will entail rowing on the water, weight training, and running. On the water, coaches will provide helpful technique and performance enhancing instruction. Off the water discussions will review video footage taken on the water. Participants are invited to compete in the Independence Day Regatta in preparation for USRowing Club National Championships, although neither race is mandatory. Although RowPittsburgh is a young program, the club has displayed impressive results at regattas and indoor competitions across the country thus far. RowPittsburgh is able to provide quality training and coaching for everyone, no matter one's age, gender, or ability. RowPittsburgh offers a fleet of well-maintained racing shells and equipment, as well as professional coaches who guide and encourage individuals to pursue their rowing goals.
