DescriptionThe Traditional Day Camp is a full or half day camp, available for children in pre-school (aged 3½ who are potty trained and not using training underwear) to those entering 3rd grade. Campers entering first, second or third grades may elect to spend the full day in the Traditional Day Camp or combine a morning or afternoon session with a Key Explorations class.
Part of each morning is spent swimming at the Hillsmere Community Pool, which is approximately four blocks away from our campus. Our school bus transports all campers there and back. While we are at the pool, which is guarded by two lifeguards, only our campers are there. The pool does not open to its members until after we leave. We also have two certified Red Cross-trained swim instructors leading this program. These instructors are at the pool with the campers each day. All counselors are in the water with the children at all times. Campers are grouped by ability for lessons. They have lessons for about 20 minutes and then are allowed to play in the pool for another 15 to 20 minutes. If campers are with us for at least two consecutive weeks, they are tested at the end and receive the appropriate Red Cross Swimming Level card to show what they have accomplished. We have many opportunities for fun and learning planned for this summer. Whether you are interested in a traditional camp, exploration classes, special programs in the arts, theater, dance, academics, film, chess, or sports, we have an exciting array of choices for you.
