DescriptionThe Fly Shop's Fly Fishing Camps: FishCamp™ is a 5 day, 4 night, summer fly fishing camp in Northern California, held at our own Antelope Creek Ranch. FishCampers learn more about fly fishing in a week at camp than most of us learn in a lifetime. It is an enjoyable and educational experience. During a week at FishCamp, campers will learn about many aspects of fly fishing, including some things that often prove daunting even to experienced fly rodders: Fly casting (roll cast, overhead fly cast, false casting, shooting line, even the double haul!), fly tying, knots, basic entomology and what fish eat, reading the water, safe wading techniques, catch and release, leave-no-trace, and other outdoors and fly fishing related skills. More importantly, FishCamp is fun! There are games to be played, and stories to be told around the campfire in the evenings. And, of course, what would FishCamp be without lots of great fishing! Every kid that comes to camp catches fish, and many are big ones. We offer several outstanding FishCamp Experiences: Kids FishCamp, Family FishCamp, Advanced FishCamp, even an Alaska Family Camp! Campers stay in state-of-the-art wall tents, with comfortable bunks, cool fresh air, and the whisper of the wind through the pine trees to slumber through the nights. They awake each morning to the smell of breakfast sizzling on the outdoor grill and the sweet scent of hot chocolate wafting through the woods. Meals at FishCamp are plentiful, and healthy, with three squares a day. Our cooks work hard every day to ensure that our campers enjoy tasty, nutritious food. FishCamp™ is located in the shadows of Mount Shasta near the town of Weed, California, at our very own Antelope Creek Ranch. FishCamp is only a one hour forty minute drive from The Fly Shop in Redding. Antelope Creek is a privately leased ranch with both a stream and two lakes teeming with fish. The FishCamp™ staff is a selected group of talented individuals who make learning fun and easy. Our team of counselors are patient experts who enjoy sharing their love of flyfishing with children. They are role models who share their positive attitudes on life with the campers. Details
