The founders of Ojai Valley School, established in 1911, believed that children learned best through experience and sought to establish a school that would emphasize experiential learning and a love of the outdoors. Since that time, Ojai Valley School has grown into a boarding and day school serving nearly 300 students in grades pre-kindergarten to twelve on two campuses in the beautiful Ojai Valley.
The OVS Summer School & Camp, which began in 1943, is an extension of the rich curriculum offered during the academic year. In summer, the emphasis is also on learning through experiences. Summer campers are engaged inside and outside the classroom with challenging academic classes and fun outdoor activities. They enjoy access to the Pacific Ocean, the Los Padres National Forest, and excursions to cultural sites around Southern California.
This summer, our programs will be held between June 20 and July 31, 2010 on both campuses:
* Upper Camp, for students entering grades 9-12, is held at our high school campus and offers both credit and non-credit classes as well as ESL classes, college tours, ropes course challenges, sports, swimming, and other activities for day and resident campers. Equestrian and environmental studies programs are also offered for high school age students.
* Lower Camp, for students entering grades PK-8, is held at our elementary and middle school campus and offers academic classes, ESL programs, sports, swimming and other activities for day and resident campers. There are also specialized camps for students interested in performing arts, equestrian, and sports.
Ojai Valley School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the American Camp Association. At OVS, students of all ages will discover a safe, nurturing environment with a diverse student body from around the globe. They will also meet enthusiastic camp leaders and teachers who strive to make the summer experience welcoming, fun and memorable.
