Vaulting is the performance of gymnastics & dance on a moving horse.

The horse is controlled by a lunger who sends him in a circle around them on the end of a lunge line attached to the horse's bridle. The horse also wears a special surcingle around his belly which has hand grips and stirrups for the vaulter’s to perform maneuvers.

Vaulters begin working in walk and progress, with training from a qualified instructor, to be able to execute fantastic freestyle performances in the canter.

Vaulters learn to have the agility and athleticism of gymnasts, the grace and expression of dancers and the balance and feel of equestrians.

Both women have been involved with horses their whole lives. In 1995 they started vaulting and Kathy began coaching. After 5+ years vaulting and coaching in B.C. with Sky Vaulters, Kathy & Alysha moved to Ontario where they began Clearview Vaulters. The mother/daughter team taught lessons & camps as well as continuing to vault themselves. The pair coached each other, and prepared shows and camps together. After Alysha left for college, Kathy moved to Cambridge and began her apprenticeship as a vaulting judge.
