AZ Riding Academy offers summer camps for children 7 years of age and up. In the camps, each child will be responsible for the feeding and care of their school horse and will learn to handle them safely. Grooming and bathing are only part of the hands-on fun we will have. Campers will learn to lead their horse from the ground and test their skills going through an obstacle course. There will be a live demonstration by a farrier, showing how to care for the horse’s feet. Everyone will also get a chance to become a veterinarian and learn to check the vital signs of a horse, in addition to identifying their anatomy. During our daily horseback rides, side walkers will assist each new rider to ensure their safety. For more seasoned individuals, they will ride their own horses unassisted with direction from one of the instructors. Daily arts and crafts will allow the campers to take home some of the fun - making frames to hold a picture of themselves with their favorite school horse for memories to last a lifetime. We even have the opportunity to paint our horses like the Native Americans have done. Fridays are family days!! Parents are welcome to visit Friday afternoon to take a tour of the farm, meet their child’s school horse and watch what they have learned.
