Jay Crawford has been living, breathing and coaching kiteboarding on Hatteras Island since the early days. Flying Naish product since 1999, Jay has worked with and learned from the pioneers. He has since worked closely with leading kiteboarding schools developing lesson programs, always keeping safety and exceeding guest expectations as priorities.
Before discovering the island and kiteboarding, Jay spent many years on the water racing catamarans and windsurfing. Jay has been involved in sports management and coaching his entire career. He was a Director of a YMCA in Virginia for 10 years, a Membership Director for an exclusive golf resort for 4 years, and has managed watersports centers on the island.
Jay also regularly contributes to all of the current kiteboarding magazines: SBC, Kiteboarder and Kiteboarding.
In the winter months, Jay spends his time at Heavenly Mountain Resort. Holding a full cert in skiing and level one in snowboarding, most of his days are spent coaching private lessons or staff training.
