COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch, who was named Asics/Volleyball Magazine's 2009 National Coach of the Year, has been selected to the head coaching staff for the U.S. Girls' Select A1 National Teams (GSA1) that will compete at the 2010 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships.

Johnson-Lynch joins Saint Louis University head coach Anne Kordes, Concordia University Irvine head coach Kyle Kvasnica, University of Arizona associate head coach Steve Walker, 2000 U.S. Olympian Charlene Johnson-Tagaloa and UC Irvine assistant coach Ben Bodipo-Mempa in the program.

"This will be my first experience as a coach with USA Volleyball and I'm really excited about the opportunity," Johnson-Lynch said. "I felt it was important for my development as a coach to get involved with USA Volleyball and to learn from these coaches.

"Our sport continues to change and evolve, and working with these coaches and athletes allows me the opportunity to learn and keep up with changes in the game."

The program, which represents teams with athletes born from 1996-99, will compete during the 2010 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships held July 26-30 in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

Johnson-Lynch recently completed her fifth season with Iowa State. Under her guidance, ISU has advanced to three-straight Sweet 16s, including an Elite Eight in 2008. She has posted a career mark of 105-58, as well as a 27-5 mark in 2009.
