The US Sports/Nike Basketball Camp Family is proud to welcome back this Nike Boys Basketball Camp at Sacred Heart University.  Located in beautiful southern  Connecticut, SHU is home to the impressive William H. Pitt Health and Recreation Center.  A long time host of our Nike Girls Basketball Camp - this boys program represents the ideal spot to GET BETTER.  Directing the basketball program is Head Men's Basketball Coach Dave Bike, and his staff.

Dave Bike is in his 31st year as the head coach of Sacred Heart. A 1969 SHU graduate, he has amassed over 470 career victories which puts him 21st among all active college coaches. He guided the Pioneers in their transition from a Division II program to Division I in 1999, and has taken the Pioneers to back to back Northeast Conference Championship games in '07 & '08. He led the Pioneers to eight NCAA Division II tournaments, and his 1985-86 team won the national championship while finishing 30-4. Bike was named the national Coach of the Year by the NABC following the title game. Prior to joining the Sacred Heart coaching staff, he worked as an assistant at Seattle University for four seasons. In his youth, Bike was perhaps one of the most gifted athletes from the State of Connecticut and certainly the best in the City of Bridgeport. He played with and against men from the region who went on the play professionally in both basketball and baseball who will tell you what a fierce competitor and athlete he was. At nearby Notre Dame High School, he was an outstanding baseball player as well as an All-New England and All-State basketball selection that elected to bypass scholarship offers from Fordham and Boston College to sign a professional baseball contract where he spent five seasons as a catcher in the Detroit Tiger farm system.

Co-Directing our camp is Anthony Latina, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach.  Coach Latina is in his fourth season as an assistant coach at Sacred Heart. During this time, SHU has had the best five year record in the program's Division I history, and has appeared in back to back Conference Championship games.  Latina came to the Pioneers after serving for six seasons as an assistant coach at Central Connecticut State University. He helped guide the Blue Devils to two NCAA Tournament appearances, and three trips to the Northeast Conference championship game. His duties at Central included recruiting and scouting opponents, as well as individual player development. He was part of the staff that helped produce the first-ever NBA draft pick from Central Connecticut, Corsley Edwards, who was taken in the second round by the Sacramento Kings in the 2002 draft. Prior to joining Division I Central Connecticut, Latina worked for four years as an assistant coach at Division II UMass-Lowell.  Latina was a four-year starter and two-year captain as a point guard at Brandeis University.  A honor's student in the classroom, Latina also received the Athletic Director's Award and Stein Attitude and Dedication to Basketball Award at Brandeis. He earned his undergraduate degree in history and American Studies from Brandeis, and his Master's in education from UMass-Lowell. The Hartford, CT native was a captain of the 1990-91 Connecticut State Championship team at South Catholic High School under legendary coach Joe Reilly.
