This summer US Sports and the Nike Basketball Camps are proud to welcome back Adelphi University to our network of camps. Adelphi University is located near Long Island's parks and beaches, the 75-acre campus is only 45 minutes from New York City, offering the combined advantages of a major metropolitan area and a safe, suburban campus environment. Our basketball instructional program is directed by the Adelphi Women’s Basketball staff - led by Donna Lohrey and assisted by Christina Buckley and LaSheena Brown.
Coach Lohrey is in her fourth season with the program previously serving as an assistant coach. In that capacity, she handled film exchange, worked with the shooting guards, and was involved with scouting and recruiting. She also assisted with community service, study hall and co-director of summer camps. Lohrey lettered four years as a starter for the Molloy College basketball team, finishing her career with 1,731 points. She was the 2003 ECC Rookie of the Year and a two-time first-team All-ECC selection and two-time first-team All-Met recipient.
Coach Buckley is in her first season as an assistant coach for Adelphi University. Her primary duties include working with the point guards as well as facilitating equipment, team travel, recruiting, and study hall. Prior to arriving at Adelphi, Buckley spent two years at CBS Sports. There she served in various capacities, including Broadcast Operations Coordinator, Graphics BA and a researcher responsible for preparing and editing on-air stats for the NFL and NCAA. She was also responsible for hiring, scheduling, and payroll of freelance production employees. Her most recent coaching experience includes working with the Long Island Lightning AAU and numerous college basketball camps.
Coach Brown works closely with post players on post skills and fundamentals. Prior to coming to AU, she coached at Molloy College and worked UCONN’s women’s basketball camp. Brown attended Mount Saint Mary College, graduating in 2007 with a business degree. An accomplished player, she is the all time leader in blocked shots and rebounds, as well as a 1,000 point scorer. Brown is a Rockville Centre, NY native and attended Malverne High School.
