One of the original Nike Girls Basketball Camps is back!  The beautiful Shepherd campus, on a bluff overlooking the Potomac River, is proud to return to our family of camps.  Shepherd University, located just 75 miles from the nation's capital, will give young athletes a better understanding of the game and team play. NIKE campers utilize the home court of the Rams, the Butcher Athletic Center, which features three full courts and an air-conditioned gym.

 

Head Women's Basketball Coach Melanie Ford directs our basketball instructional program.  Coach Ford enters her first year as head coach for the Rams. She had served as the program’s top assistant coach for the past seven seasons. Ford was elevated to associate head coach in 2008. As an assistant at Shepherd she was involved in every aspect of the program and solely responsible for many of them. Over Ford's tenure as Shepherd's top assistant coach, the Rams recorded a 116-88 overall mark -- highlighted by a record-setting 24- 7 record in 2007-08. That season the Rams captured the WVIAC title and advanced to the NCAA II Sweet 16 in the program's first-ever postseason appearance. The Rams posted five winning seasons over that seven year period and also had five seasons with 15 wins or more.
