Launched in September 2008, this American branch of the academy founded by Justine Henin and her coach Carlos Rodriguez offers full-time live-in programs, short term programs, and plans to offer summer camps in 2009. Full-time students live in supervised townhouses a short distance from the resort and attend the Montverde Academy. Henin herself shows up occasionally; however, Rodriquez plans to spend as much as 35 weeks a year at the academy, which its full-time resident director is Alain de Vos, Rodriguez's former assistant coach who went on to coach such WTA players as Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Meghann Shaughnessy.
All three share a common philosophy of caring about their students as individuals, and doing their best to nurture them regardless of their abilities. "We going to try to take every player and have the same consideration for all the players even if they low level, high level, medium level," says Rodriguez. "Every player for us is a human being."
