Regis University is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), a 14-institution conference that includes 10 schools in Colorado, two in Nebraska and one apiece in Kansas and New Mexico.Affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and competing at the Division II level, Regis University's 11 varsity athletic programs (five men’s, six women’s) strive for excellence in competition, in the classroom and in the Denver community.
Dan McDermott, Head Baseball Coach from Regis University directs this NIKE Baseball Camp. The 200 season marks Dan McDermott's ninth year as the head coach of the Regis University baseball team. McDermott assumed head coaching duties in May of 2000 after spending the 1998 and 1999 seasons as the Rangers' pitching coach and top assistant.
At the conclusion of the 2003 season, McDermott was named the RMAC Coach of the Year after leading Regis to a 28-26 overall record and a berth in the RMAC Tournament. In 2004, Regis posted a 32-18 overall record and advanced into the RMAC Tournament, as well. In seven years as the skipper of the Rangers, McDermott's teams have gone 185-180 (.507 winning percentage).
McDermott's coaching resume includes nine seasons (1988-97) as the head coach at Briar Cliff College (NAIA) in Sioux City, Iowa. During his time at Briar Cliff, McDermott compiled a 345-181 overall record (.656) while leading his teams to four District Championships (1990, 1995-97)
and six consecutive seasons in the NAIA Top-20 (1992-97). Furthermore, McDermott, who served on a number of NAIA baseball committees during his time at Briar Cliff, earned District Coach of the Year honors five times and was a three-time Regional Coach of the Year selection. All told, McDermott has compiled a career record (15 years) of 507-328 (.607 winning percentage).
