Camp Broadstone is Appalachian State University's year round outdoor adventure and retreat center with a specialized summer camp for academically gifted youth. Its 55 acres of woods and meadows are located in the small community of Valle Crucis nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Please use the side bar to the left to explore our facilities and programs.

The Summer Enrichment Programs for Academically Gifted Youth provides current 4th through 9th grade students an opportunity to explore a blend of enrichment classes and adventure programs that are designed to encourage and foster intellectual, social and physical growth. This program is open to academically gifted children from across the country.

Camp Broadstone has been offering a high-quality residential summer program for academically gifted youth for 33 years. We expanded that offering in 2008 to include a day camp option to current 3rd through 6th grade students. Day camp is similar in many ways to the residential camp; our shared focus is on encouraging positive social interaction, improving self-esteem and decision making, and promoting educational and physical growth through fun and challenging activities both on and off-camp. Day campers will participate in a sampling of the same wonderful adventure programs and exciting enrichment classes as our residential campers. Day camp will be special, however, because each of the six sessions has its own theme. The schedule for each week will vary slightly to accommodate activities and programs that fit the theme. Because each week will be a new adventure, we welcome campers who would like to register for more than one session.
