The Anthony Q. Newman Football Camp began more than a decade ago, when Anthony and his good friend and fellow NFL star J.J. Birden teamed up to offer a free football camp to Portand area youth. About 65 children attended the first camp, but over the years, word spread about the quality of the camp and the very attractive price — FREE.

2010 marks the camp's 17th year of bringing quality instruction, based on real pro playbooks, at no cost to participants. Along with Anthony Q. Newman, a former NFL star who has worn jerseys for the Los Angeles Rams, Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints, the coaching staff includes other retired and current NFL pros, as well as local high school coaches and former college players. The camp is governed by a board of directors.

In keeping with Anthony's mission to give back to the community that gave him the opportunity to succeed, this camp is one small way we can make a big difference in the lives of our children.
