The longest active bowl win streak (5 games) in the Pac-10 Conference; the second-best record in the conference over the last three seasons (28-12); three consecutive Associated Press Top-25 rankings; the 2008 Pac-10 Coach of the Year. Ninth-year head coach Mike Riley is well on his way, if not already, to being in the history of Oregon State University. He ranks third on the school’s all-time career victories list with 56 wins. Riley, in addition the 2008 American Football Coaches Association the rebirth of the Oregon State football program when he was first hired in January of 1997. He has led the Beavers to unparalleled success during his second tenure that began in 2003. Starting with the 2003 season Oregon State has won all five bowl games it has appeared in, finished with four winning marks in the Pac-10 Conference and overall has won 48 games - 56 victories counting his tenure in 1997 and ‘98. Riley is the first coach in OSU history to win more than one NCAA sanctioned bowl game at OSU, capturing the 2003 Las Vegas Bowl, the 2004 Insight Bowl, the 2006 and 2008 Sun Bowls, and the 2007 Emerald Bowl titles. The victory in last year’s Sun Bowl improved Riley’s bowl record to 5-0 as the leader of the Oregon State program.
