The Arsenal Football Club of Pittsburgh was established in 2000 with a handful of outstanding coaches that were seeking a professional environment to develop soccer talent to its highest level. In just ten short years, this tradition of excellence has produced 3 State Champions, 9 State Finalists, 16 Semifinalists, and 10 regular season League Championships. This year, Arsenal FC was selected by West Ham United Academy to be their exclusive partner in Western Pennsylvania. Mike Kelleher, Partnership Development Manager for West Ham United International Academy, commented that the strength of the club on both the boys and girls side was very pleasing and the quality of coaches at Arsenal FC with their combination of 'A' licensed coaches and coaches with professional playing backgrounds was extremely impressive and a major factor in West Ham United's decision to chose Arsenal FC.

This team became the first Arsenal Girls team to make it into the final round of the PA State Cups, beginning a great tradition for the club. A 2 and 1 record in the preliminaries put them into the semi's and the team won their semi-final match 1-0 vs Central Penn United. While they lost in the finals 3-0 to Beadling, the score doesn't reflect the girls efforts as they fought hard and held their own with a few shots that almost made it! It was a great ride this season for this team's first season together with a great section record and two tournament victories in KSA Adidas Turf Classic in Cincinati,Ohio and the Nike Challenge Cup in Columbus, Ohio. Thanks to the coaches, James and Mike, and best wishes to the U-16 girls in their upcoming High School fall season and a return to give it another try next season!!
