DescriptionThe Boulevard Club is a private member's club, owned by its members. At the turn of the twentieth century, a crew of canoeists got together at Mrs. Meyers' boathouse on Toronto's lake shore. In 1905, after four years as a casual association, The Parkdale Canoe Club was formed and in 1910, a modest clubhouse was erected. Despite being perched out over the waters of Lake Ontario. the clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1913. Undaunted, the club set about rebuilding, only to have construction interrupted by another blaze in 1915. Eventually, the second clubhouse was completed. Member interests embraced not only canoeing but hockey, baseball and rugby as well. The P.C.C. took their first hockey championship trophy in 1910. Their pigskin prowess captured the Grey Cup Union Championships in 1921 and 1922. A lawn bowling green and two clay tennis courts were introduced in 1921 and Women's softball brought the club headlines from 1924 to 1956. Details
