The Longwood University men’s tennis team defeated Seattle University 7-0 on Saturday morning on Lancer Courts in Farmville and won the 2010 Independent Tournament, going 4-0 in the round-robin tournament. Sophomore Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) was named the tournament MVP while senior Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Longwood ends the season with a 12-9 record.
The Longwood University men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at George Washington University on Sunday in Washington, D.C.. The Lancers (8-9) won one doubles match but lost the point and then won one singles match, with senior David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) victorious at #5. Longwood returns to action on Thursday, April 15, when they host the Independent Tournament in Farmville.
The Longwood University men’s tennis team topped Winston-Salem State University 4-0 on Thursday afternoon on the first day of the Independent Tournament on Lancer Courts in Farmville. Longwood swept the doubles point and won three singles matches for the win. The Lancers (9-9) return to action on Friday, April 16, when they face the New Jersey Institute of Technology at 1 p.m. and North Carolina Central University at 5 p.m. on Lancer Courts in Farmville for the second day of the three-day round robin tournament. Longwood wraps up the tournament when it faces Seattle University on Saturday, April 17, at 8:30 a.m..
