The Longwood University women’s tennis team defeated North Carolina Central University 4-0 and Winston-Salem State University 6-0 on Sunday to win the 2010 Independent Tournament in Farmville. Senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) was named the Independent Tournament MVP while senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) and freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) earned spots on the All-Tournament team. Longwood finished the season with a 13-8 mark after winning the final three matches of the season.
The Longwood University women’s tennis team defeated Seattle University 4-1 on Saturday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers swept the doubles matches and won three of the first four singles matches. Longwood (11-8) wraps up its season Sunday, April 18, when it hosts North Carolina Central University at 8:30 a.m. and Winston-Salem State University at 1 p.m. on Lancer Courts in Farmville.

The Lancers (10-8) won the doubles point and picked up singles wins by freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) at #3 and senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) at #4. Longwood is off until next Saturday when they face Seattle University in the Independent Tournament in Farmville.

Longwood swept all three doubles matches and won five singles matches. The Lancers (10-7) return to action on Saturday, April 10, when they face Howard University in Washington, D.C., at 1 p.m..
The Longwood University women’s tennis team fell to in-state foe Radford University 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers (9-7) were led by senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) who picked up Longwood’s only win at #4 singles. Longwood returns to action on Friday, April 9, when they travel to Towson, Maryland, to take on Towson University at 2 p.m..
