Description

Four members of the Navy women's tennis team were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced on Wednesday. To be eligible, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's spring championship sports.

The Navy quartet was part of 42 members of the Academic Honor Roll. Lehigh's Julie Arthofer was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Rising junior Lindsay Olsen (Los Gatos, Calif.) led the Navy contingent with a 3.85 GPA in ocean engineering. Just five players in the league had a higher GPA during the spring and Olsen owns a 3.84 cumulative GPA, ranking 31st out of 1,182 in her class. She has been part of the Dean's List all four semesters at Navy. On the court, Olsen went 10-11 in singles play, including 7-7 in dual meets while playing No. 6 singles. She combined with three different teammates to record an 8-14 doubles mark.

Graduated senior Carissa Guthrie (Phoenix, Ariz.) was named to the squad after recording a 3.56 GPA in English. On the court, Guthrie went 2-3 in singles play and teamed with Rebecca Carlson (Newberry, S.C.) to post a 1-3 doubles record.

Carlson was also named to the squad after posting a 3.40 GPA in oceanography. Carlson, a rising junior, owns a cumulative 3.08 GPA and has been on the Commandant's List twice. She finished the 2009-10 season with a 3-3 singles record and a 1-3 doubles mark.

Navy's last honoree is rising senior Brittney Boucher (San Antonio, Texas). Boucher owned a 3.35 GPA in ocean engineering and holds down a 2.97 cumulative GPA. She has been on the Commandant's List four times. Boucher had a sensational season for the Mids, posting a 14-7 overall record, including a 12-3 dual-meet record in the spring. She played No. 2 singles for head coach Keith Puryear and had separate win streaks of five and four matches during the spring. In doubles play, Boucher was 15-9 overall, including 11-5 during the spring dual season.
