Five Huskies were honored for their academics today by the Pac-10 Conference, led by All-Academic First Team members Tobi Obenaus and Alex Rosinski. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and be a significant contributor on the court.
Only Washington and Stanford had multiple honorees on the eight-member First Team. This is the second First Team honor in a row for Obenaus, and will go nicely with his ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team honor announced two weeks ago. Obenaus, a junior, sports a 3.93 cumulative GPA in accounting, the second-best GPA in the conference.
Rosinski, an aspiring doctor majoring in biochemistry, carries a 3.79 grade point average. This is his first time on the First Team after earning Second Team honors a year ago. He and Obenaus teamed up in doubles this season to make quite the academic duo. Together they earned their first career national rankings and reached the Pac-10 Invitational final.
Earning a spot on the Second Team for the second year in a row is Martin Kildahl. The junior holds a 3.38 GPA while majoring in business administration.
Honorable mention was also given to juniors Brad Bator and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan. Both of them were also named honorable mention in 2009 as well.
