DescriptionWashington State University sophomore Elisabeth Fournier and freshman Liudmila Vasilieva finished their 2010 seasons with top 65 national rankings as released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Additionally, Vasilieva, Fournier and the Cougars garnered year-end regional rankings.
Vasilieva ended the season ranked No. 60 nationally while Fournier was 65th, marking the first time since the 2002 season the Cougars had two players end the season nationally ranked.
For the season Vasilieva posted a 27-13 record and received All-Pac-10 honorable mention honors after finishing her year at the NCAA Singles Championship. Her 27 singles wins rank third on the single-season list and are the most by a freshman since the Cougars began playing a full Pac-10 schedule. Vasilieva earned Pac-10 Player of the Week honors earlier this season after defeating Stanford's Lindsay Burdette (ranked No. 61) and California's Marina Cossou (No. 15), the first Cougar to defeat both Bay Area schools in the same dual match season.
Fournier, a sophomore from Ottawa, Canada, also concluded her season at the NCAA Single Championship, ending a record-breaking season as she posted a 31-10 record, setting the WSU single-season mark for victories. Additionally, she garnered All-Pacific-10 Conference second-team honors and had the third-longest winning streak in school history by starting 2010 with 11 straight wins. Fournier was also named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA All-Academic District VIII Second Team. Details
