DescriptionThe Halawai (Meeting House), Hale Ohana (Family House) and the Staff Housing were all built in 1931 for Mutual Telephone Company (precursor to Verizon). The campgrounds were the original site for the experimental radiotelephone installation, which would connect O`ahu with our neighbor islands, the mainland United States and Japan. In 1955, the Estate of James Campbell leased ten acres, of our current campgrounds, to Virginia Brooks. She had the stables, bunkhouses, and the dining hall built and named the site Camp Timberline. Since Virginia Brooks, the list of Camp Timberline’s owners included the International Baptist Church of Hawaii, the Gary Frehauf family, and St. Andrew’s Priory School. In December 1994, Kama`aina Kids acquired Camp Timberline.
