Gonzaga University men’s tennis player Roman Dojcak has been placed on the 12-member COSIDA Academic All-District 8 Second Team. To earn the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve on his/or team and hold at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
Earlier this month Dojcak became Gonzaga’s inaugural four-time All-West Coast Conference men’s tennis selection after being named to the All-WCC Second Team this season. Dojcak and Scott Sullivan received All-WCC honorable mention doubles honors.
Dojcak, also a two-time WCC All-Academic selection and two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, is the Zags inaugural second team honoree after he posted team highs of 11 wins in singles play and pairing with Sullivan to record 10 doubles victories. Dojcak led the team this past spring with three wins at No. 1 singles, four wins at No. 2 singles and also added four more wins while playing in the No. 3 slot. The Bulldogs lone senior opened his final season at Gonzaga advancing to the second round of the highly touted ITA Regional Tournament in October before closing out the fall season by claiming the singles consolation bracket title at the PNW Intercollegiates in November.
The Kosice, Slovakia native Dojcak earned All-WCC honorable mention in doubles as a freshman and All-WCC honorable mention in singles as a sophomore before earning a pair of accolades including the highest recognition by a Bulldog single player under the guidance of head coach Peter MacDonald.
