Description

Campers are part of an adventure group of up to eight youth and one college-age counselor. Christian community, making friends and cooperation are stressed, assuring that each camper is valued and encouraged. Counselors build a relationship with each camper nurturing their faith journey during the week they are at camp and beyond. Regular camp activities include the group interaction course, ropes courses, loop hike, rock slide, ice-cream making, singing, campfires, and so much more! Creative Bible study and worship are a part of each day’s schedule. Outdoor adventure programs include additional activities such as rafting, backpacking, caving, rockclimbing, and rappelling.

Advanced Adventure Camping - NEW Program for '09

This NEW program will have campers setting up an outpost camp for 4 nights out in the national forest. “No trace” camping is taught and practiced. Participants will learn more about creation through living in close harmony with nature and through guided Bible study. One day will be spent on camp to climb the tower and spend time at the lake. For campers that have completed grades 9-12 by summer 2009.

Rockclimbing and Tower

An opportunity to learn proper techniques of climbing and rappelling 25-60 ft rock faces. Staff is trained to lead and belay climbs, as well as to teach bouldering and knot. Campers will also spend two days on the Alpine II Tower. For campers that have completed grades 9-12 by summer 2009.

Senior Sampler

This popular outdoor adventure program will provide an opportunity to experience a variety of challenges including rafting the Nolichucky River, day of rock-climbing, caving, Alpine II Tower and hiking at Lutherock. For campers that have completed grades 9-12 by summer 2009.

Whitewater Week

An exciting trip to West Virginia for three full days of whitewater. We will begin with a day in the “ducks” on the New River, followed by another day on the New River with adventure water class (class III-IV). That night we celebrate with a Barbecue dinner and get ready for a day on the Gauley River. Friday will be spent at Lutherock doing some hiking and high ropes course. For campers that have completed grades 9-12 by summer 2009.

Whitewater/Backpack

A challenging program that includes 2 & 1/2days of hiking and camping on the Appalachian Trail with a 30-40 lb backpack, one day of Class III-IV whitewater rafting on the Nolichucky River, on-site low/high ropes and more. Participants should be somewhat physically fit. For campers that have completed grades 9-12 by summer 2009.
