Nestled in the pines on Cardinal Circle off Reed Road is CARDINAL RACQUET CLUB, a private non-profit tennis club in Anderson.  Recent major renovations have been completed at the club.  The front entrance area was enhanced to be more appealing to members and guests and the clubhouse was completely renovated with additions of a front patio and a covered rear patio.  With the renovations, a new handicap ramp will enable easy access to the clubhouse and facilities.  The two patios were greatly appreciated by members and guests during our Cardinal Classic Tournament as they allowed comfortable seating and viewing areas.  The restrooms, locker areas with showers and office areas were enlarged and airconditioned.

With the heat of the summer on us, the covered patio with ceiling fan and airconditioning has allowed members to comfortably enjoy activities at the club.  With league play, socials and other activities, a refreshment area on the back patio includes a wet bar, refrigerator, microwave and cabinets for easy storage.  This has been a major benefit to the ladies leagues as they enjoy socializing after their matches with the visiting teams.

Cardinal has always been a playing club; and as such, league play is a year-round activity.  Our 14 lighted courts (8 soft and 6 hard) allow us to have 20 to 25 teams, both in the spring and fall.  In addition, there are several other leagues playing throughout the year for our member's enjoyment.  Cardinal has been very fortunate to have several teams represent us as State, Regional and National champions.  Private lessons, group lessons and team drills have enabled our teams and members to improve their skills and raise their level and enjoyment of the game.
