Classes consist of a total of 4 one hour classes once a week for four weeks. Most sutdents repeat the Novice or Advanced Novice classes more than once. There is a maximum of 6 students, and a minimum of 3. inclement weather decisions about court playing conditions and postponements will be made no later than 90 minutes before each class. Make up classes for postponements will be scheduled by the instructor.

This class is designed for players that have never played the game, or have played, but never had a formal education of tennis. Basic mechanics and technique of the forhand, backhand, volleys, overheads, serves, and return of serves are covered. Basic tennis scoring and strategy are also touched on. At this stage, stroke analysis is crucial, and shots are taught mostly from stationary positions.
