Description

NYU Steinhardt’s high school residential summer art intensive allows young artists ages 16 to 18 the opportunity to explore their ideas in the heart of the international art world. Students will expand their skills, liberate their imaginations, and enrich their understanding of contemporary art.

Classes are led by distinguished NYU faculty in painting, drawing, sculpture, digital imaging, installation art, and more. Students work in professional studios and workshops. They also visit many of New York City’s cutting-edge galleries, museums, performance venues, and public exhibition spaces.

During the final week of the program, participants mount a group exhibition of their work in NYU’s Barney Building in downtown Manhattan. Students also receive individual portfolio sessions to help prepare for portfolio reviews when applying to colleges and art schools.

The NYU Steinhardt Summer Art Intensive takes place for three weeks starting on Monday, June 28, 2010. An orientation is scheduled for Sunday, June 27. Estimated Tuition and Lab fees: $2,450. Room and board: $890. (All amounts are approximate.) Admission is highly competitive.
