Welcome to the Birch Bay Ranch website! Children, youth and adults alike will enjoy a safe, fun and educational experience at Birch Bay Ranch – challenging the ropes course, enjoying nature from horseback, savoring great food and much, much more! Birch Bay Ranch began as a small summer camp and has now expanded into both a year-round retreat center and summer youth camp. Please feel free to explore this site to learn more about Birch Bay Ranch!
In 1966, land was donated to Central Pentecostal Tabernacle by Sam McCaughey for use as a church playground and a camp for kids. Initially, the camp was only open in the summer. The main lodge was built first, then stand alone cabins were built and the activities offered included archery, canoeing and hiking. Soon horsemanship was added to the program. In 1982 the Birch Bay Ranch Association was formed and the Ranch became a non-profit organization owned and operated by the BBR Association. Close to this time, new cabins (originally ATCO trailers) were brought in to replace the old cabins. These new cabins even had attached washrooms! An extensive ropes course was developed including climbing walls, zip lines, a spider’s web and more. The Ranch also began to operate more year round. In 1997, the Cedar Lodge was added, housing the Ranch offices and providing another meeting area for rental groups. In 2007, Central Tabernacle moved to become North Pointe Community Church.
