Our Core program focuses on the fundamentals of outdoor living and includes activities such as crafts, nature education, ropes course, swimming, horseback riding, archery, backpacking and beginning outdoor living skills.
The Horse Camp program offers a unique opportunity for the novice equestrian who wishes to learn more about groundwork, grooming, tacking and general care and management of our equine friends, as well as have some great summer camp fun! Campers have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the horses as well as participate in core program fun and activities. Horse Camp participants will have the occasion to teach their newly acquired skills to younger groups and will end the week with an equestrian presentation for the hole camp. These campers will be encouraged to explore their spirituality, develop their leadership skills and deepen their friendships with fellow Horse Camp members. Due to the costs associated with this specialized program we are unable to offer financial aid to participants in the Horse Camp program.
Campers in the Challenge Program will be able to participate in the same activities as the Core Programs. The Challenge program also draws from some aspects of the Advanced Program. This provides campers an opportunity to stretch their physical limits with a slightly longer backpacking trip as well as calling upon them to take part in low key leadership roles and cooperative group projects.
Based ½ mile from central camp, this program is designed for the camper who is ready for a program that is independent of the central camp experience. It includes a three-day backpack trip, intermediate outdoor living skills and introductory training in survival skills. Advanced campers are routinely involved in the planning and arranging of meals, trip execution and daily prayer. This program is designed to be excellent preparation for our two-week Adventure/Survival Program. Applicants need to be in good health for the physically strenuous activities involved. Acceptance will be determined by evaluation of the camper’s previously demonstrated ability to hike well and work harmoniously with others, as well as available space.
