A special week offered at Lutheran Hills. Performing Arts Camp is for youth who love singing and performing. Campers spend 4-5 hours each day working on a high energy Christian musical. A final choreographed production is presented to parents, families, and participants of XYZ Day on Friday afternoon, July 31 at 1:30 pm.
A week for beginning guitarists who want to learn to play their favorite camp songs, refine guitar skills, or simply want to learn playing the guitar for the first time. Along with the usual great camp activities, participants spend three hours daily in class. Luke Simpson, professional bluegrass musician, will lead the program and be assisted by other guitar-playing summer staff. Participants will take home a personal copy of the camp songbook, give a guitar concert at a local nursing home, and play a concert for family members prior to Friday afternoon pickup on July 31. (This same program is also offered at Lake Luther, July 5-10).
Reading Camp is an initiative by the Indiana-Kentucky Synod designed to give tools and hope for a better future to 4th and 5th graders ladding behing their peers in reading skills. Professional teachers conduct the program, assisted by volunteer "Cadets," older high school and college students (ages 17-22) from synod congregations with an interest in elementary education. "Cadets" work with the teachers they are partnered with for 3 hours each morning and interact with students throughout the day on general camp activities, including leading "Read Aloud" story sessions each evening. Contact Reading Camp Director, Cleo Swager (260) 456-3168 for more information and a special application packet.
