You hear a lot of talk today about getting connected. Cable, satellite, cell phones, the internet, GPS… the list goes on. The bible also has a lot to say about getting connected. In John 15:15, Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” If we’re connected to Christ, we will produce fruit. In other words, if we have a close relationship with Jesus Christ, the result will be obvious in what we say and do. This is what Paul is talking about in Galatians 5:22-23 when he describes the fruit of the Spirit. If we are connected to Christ through the Spirit, the result will be love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
