DescriptionAwanita Valley, founded in 1955 and is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina. Don and Chloe Baltz purchased the property and set up a foundation with a desire to minister to youth in a refreshing way - CAMP! Awanita is the word the Native American Cherokee tribe uses for 'youth'. There were three small houses present when the property was purchased: Safari, Riviera, and Tikki. By the mid 1960's, these houses were sleeping the "uncomfortable 80", and plans for expansion began. Through the years, the Lord has enabled Awanita to continue to reach a greater number of youth. We are now able to accommodate 700 people in three main lodges: Chateau, Tudor, and Williamsburg. We serve over 10,000 people from coast to coast and around the world. Our mission field is vast - Praise God for the facilities to serve Him!
