Description
Seattle University, located downtown on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, is hosting one session of competitive swim camp this summer! With a strong emphasis on stroke technique, daily instruction takes place at SU’s Connolly Athletic Center, the home of TWO indoor 25-yard x 6 lane pools. Overnight campers reside in supervised student dormitories located just up the street from the pool, thanks to the University’s intimate campus layout.
Directing the camp is Craig Mallery. In his 12th season as head coach, Mallery continues to guide the Seattle University men's and women's swim teams to new heights with each new season. From coaching the Redhawks to an NAIA national title, to watching SU progress to one of the premier Division II programs, to now beginning the transition to Division I status, Mallery has truly built a powerhouse in 11 seasons with the school.
Joining coach Mallery as a lead instructor is Kat Cuevas, Seattle U's Assistant Swim Coach. Cuevas has been involved with the Nike Camp at Seattle for the past three summers as a counselor, instructor and administrator, and she looks forward to seeing many familiar faces back in 2010. Prior to coaching, Cuevas was a swimmer for the Redhawks for three years, concentrating on the butterfly and backstroke disciplines.
Joining Mallery and Cuevas on the pool deck will be several familiar faces from last year's camp staff as well as some current varsity swimmers.
