We are pleased to offer a new Nike Camp location at Francis Marion University. FMU is located seven miles east of Florence and an easy drive from Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston and Myrtle Beach.
The camp is set on the beautiful 300 acre campus. Campers will enjoy the quaint feeling of FMU as well as the modern tennis facility featuring 8 Plexipave tennis courts, four of which are lighted. Campers will also have access to other athletic recreational facilites, including a swimming pool, a reslite eight-lane track, a regulation soccer field, and two natural grass fields.
The Camp director will be Garth Thompson, the head varsity coach at FMU. Thompson is one of the top coaches in the country, having brought his teams to the NCAA championships 13 times in 17 seasons as head coach.
He is a former tour player and a competitor on the national senior circuit. Thompson is known for his enthusiasm, passion for tennis and his commitment to the development of young athletes.
The Francis Marion camp is for juniors ages 5-17 and includes a general skills (ages 8-17), Fun and Fumdamentals (ages 5-8) and High School program (ages 13-17.)
The Fun and Fundamental sessions are designed for players aged 5-7. Fun and Fundamental sessions are a positive introduction to tennis fundamentals and low key match play situations for younger campers. Many of these programs will use short court teaching. These sessions are AM only and will be run on 6/146/18.
The June 14-18 session will also offer an all skills program suitable for all skill levels ages 8-17.
The July 12-16 session offers both an All Skills and a High School program, designed for players 13 and above who are looking to make their High School tennis teams or move up their High School team ladders.
