A mixture of heavy woodlands and abandoned and partially grown-up farms offer an ideal situation for the maintenance of excellent populations of both small and big game.  For those who prefer bird hunting, the many areas of small growth around old roads offer prime conditions for both grouse and good native and flight populations of woodcock.  Deer are present in large numbers mostly because of the combination of cut-over forest and remaining heavy cover, providing proper habitat for deer in all four seasons.
