DescriptionCAMP TANAGER was established in 1926 so children could participate in a summer camp experience regardless of financial circumstances. Camp Tanager is administered by Tanager Place and is supervised by a Camp Director. The staff/camper ratio (1:6) permits a high degree of interaction between Camp Counselors and campers. Seven 1 week sessions are available between June and August each year for children aged 7 - 11 years. DIABETES CAMP at Camp Tanager provides children and adolescents with Diabetes a safe and healthy environment to enjoy a variety of recreational activities designed for fun and fitness. At the same time children with Diabetes acquire a better understanding of their disorder. The Diabetes Camp began in 1987 and serves 50-60 children annually. The camp held each July has an on-site 24-hour physician and nursing staff. HEMOPHILIA CAMP is held each year in mid-June. This special camp is one of a kind in the mid-west. During the six-day camp children with Hemophilia and their siblings participate in individual and group activities designed for fun and fitness. They also gain a better understanding of Hemophilia and its effects on individuals and families. The Hemophilia Camp has a 24-hour physician and nursing staff. The camp began in 1986 and serves 50-60 children with Hemophilia and their siblings each year. ACTIVITIES - Campers may participate in a wide variety of traditional camping activities including swimming, singing camp songs, sports and games, educational speakers, hiking, physical activities, arts & crafts, archery and nature studies. Campers will have the opportunity to make new friends and enjoy outdoor fun, while developing their physical and social skills. Details
