DescriptionTo present and promote the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, primarily to the unreached in Canada and elsewhere, to the end that the lost shall be evangelized and Christian believers will be taught and strengthened in their faith. Cypress Bible Camp was founded in 1949 when Mrs. Eleanor Aslin requested that C.S.S.M. provide workers for a Daily Vacation Bible School in the Robsart area, and that she and others in the area were thinking that a children's camp was needed in the area. The first organizational meeting was held in the Robsart Church of God with an invitation to the Horsham Free Church to attend. A Committee was formed which included the following people: Lawrence and Eleanor Aslin, Kris and Carrie Aslin, Oscar Elliason, Adolf Frank, Ed Macleod, Roy Olafson, and Maurice Erdmann. The first camp was held in 1949 on the grounds of Camp Shagabec with 35 campers. Elmer and Anna Schnider (C.S.S.M. Provincial Director) directed the camp with Aurther Yerex (Millar Collage of the Bible) as the camp Speaker. In 1952 a lease was taken out on the present site of the camp. Many people have attended the camp, as campers or workers. The current facilities can accommodate 72 campers.
