DescriptionWe want each person to grow while at GFC, not only sharpening skills brought to camp, but introducing new areas to learn and master. We also try to balance “physical” and “intellectual” activities. The Camp schedule is set up to require a certain amount of exercise time and outdoor time each day. Campers being offered electives are encouraged to sign up for a selection of different kinds of activities. The daily schedule reflects this attempt at balanced programming. Campers are organized into units by age groups. Each unit has its own daily schedule, which includes a number of activities, both “physical” and “intellectual”, resulting in fun and busy days and nights. As campers progress through the units, they are given more and more choices in the selection of their daily activities. There are two distinct programs for Bonim. Bonim sessions B & D are for campers entering second and third grades. These Bonim campers tend to do almost all activities with their bunks. They have a schedule that introduces them to almost every activity that the Camp has to offer, thereby exposing them to as many different parts of camp as possible. Bonim sessions A & C are for campers entering fourth and fifth grades. Their program tends to parallel our Niviim Unit, with campers signing up for many of their activities. Niviim is for campers entering fourth and fifth grades. Niviim campers are involved in some activities with their bunks. They also choose many of their own activities as individuals. The Niviim schedule permits campers to begin exploring areas of camp, which particularly appeal to them. They sign up for Chugim (outdoor sports activities) and Hagigot (cultural and recreational activities), choosing three of each for the session. Details
