The mission and purpose of LeTourneau Christian Center is to glorify the Lord through our programs, activities, facilities and personnel. The message of Jesus Christ will be proclaimed in all we do and our facilities and activities will be under continual improvement to provide for the physical, moral, social and spiritual development of Christian adults and youth of all ages.

Conference and camping accommodations for both adults and youth will be enhanced to provide a year-round facility to conduct Christian conferences, workshops, seminars, concerts and other meetings that will strengthen the family, train youth, encourage pastors, develop leaders, disciple believers, and inspire God's people.

The facilities will be utilized to support Letourneau sponsored programs and also be available to Christian churches, youth groups, para-church organizations, and other Christian organizations to conduct their own programs so long as they are not in opposition to the goals and purposes of LeTourneau. When possible the facilities will be made available to Christian families who are looking for a time of Spiritual retreat.

It was an inspiration conceived on a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive in 1933. Dr. Harold Strathearn, an evangelist from England and founder of the Interstate Evangelistic Association, was driving down that Canandaigua lakeside country road with his friends Don and Howard Joss. Strathearn’s objective in ministry, and the purpose of his newly formed IEA, was to promote evangelism in local churches and to encourage pastors and students.

One of Strathearn’s dreams was to one day establish a camp and conference center to provide inspiration and biblical instruction along with fellowship and physical refreshment for the Christian community – a worthy but perhaps ambitious objective in an economy still in depression.
