Specializing in land and water sports Ojibwa is able to develop levels of camaraderie like no other place. This is accomplished primarily because the Ojibwa staff is over 90% home grown. Boys 7 through 16 have the summer of their lives growing in a beautiful environment, exposed to healthful living and nurtured by a loving, caring and challenging staff.
Camp Ojibwa is recognized by the American Camping Association as an outstanding camp. Rich in history and tradition Ojibwa’s heritage includes:
* Being the inspiration for the Alan Sherman hit song “Hello Muddah, Hello Fatha” after Mr. Sherman worked as a counselor at Ojibwa in the 40’s.
* Being part of Chicago Cub history when in 1969 the then Cub manager Leo Durocher, who had a step son at camp, left a Saturday game and appeared at Ojibwa.
* Having only two Camp Directors since 1928 – founder Al Schwartz and Denny Rosen who is celebrating his 50th summer at camp.
* Receiving a National Award from the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).
