DescriptionLocated east of Birmingham, Alabama, Camp Winnataska has offered a wide variety of quality programs for boys and girls for over 90 years. Each camp session will provide campers the opportunity to experience aspects of outdoor life such as swimming, canoeing, arts, crafts, nature study, sports, archery, ropes course, hiking and camping, and horseback riding. Camp Winnataska offers six weekly sessions in June and July of each year. These sessions begin on Sunday and end on Saturday. Camp Winnataska has over 1,400 acres of fun-filled outdoor adventure. Beautiful Kelly Creek meanders through the camp property and spills into 24-acre Grace Lake. This unique outdoor setting provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for boys and girls. Camp Winnataska has a dining hall, infirmary with a registered nurse on duty (24 hours a day), canteen, gym with basketball court, canoes, stables and a new barn, activity fields, swimming pool, craft hut, ropes courses, 33-acre lake and miles of hiking trails. Campers live in cabins with campers of the same age. Each cabin has beds with mattresses, electricity, and nearby bathhouse. Campers age 6 through 8 (finished 1st and 2nd grade) share Chico Camp, a pioneer log-cabin village sized for smaller folks. Few camps offer overnight camping for Chico-age children. Our program is fully supervised just for younger campers. The ratio of counselors to campers is 1:4. Details
